MusicFirst is a cloud based learning management system offering music learning content and tools to K-12 schools worldwide. The website was built from the ground up on the Symphony framework and uses the LTI protocol to integrate with 3rd party tools, content, and software. The project also included creating multiple consumer facing sites.
The initial MusicFirst LMS build was an intensive year-long 0-1 agile / scrum project on which I worked as the lead UX writing feature requirements, articulating client business goals, establishing user roles and goals, site mapping, creating user work flows documents, wireframing, prototyping site navigation, and front end design for all functionality for elementary student, middle/high school student, teacher, school admin, and client admin user roles. We devised functionality for teachers to share and re-use lesson plans and assessments created in Music First from class-to-class, school to school, and year-to-year, including allowing them to clone the entirety of a past class’s task, lesson, and test schedule.
By 2020, MusicFirst LMS had over 2 million unique paid subscribers.
Tidbit: We devised functionality for teachers to utilize AI (ChatGTP integration) within the website’s interface to aid teachers in creation of lesson plans and assessments.
